Jürg Hanselmann

Jürg Hanselmann completed his studies in piano and composition in Bern, London and Frankfurt.

In May 2012 his work “Ricercare” for wind quintet was awarded first prize at the Deutsche Oper Berlin’s “Klang der Welt” competition. He also won several piano competitions. His concert career has taken him across Europe and the USA. His 10 CD recording of the complete piano works of Josef Rheinberger won much acclaim, as well as the CD “Die Eisenbahn in der Klaviermusik“ and numerous recordings of his own compositions, including his Concerto for the Left Hand. Hanselmann is also an avid chamber musician.

Since the 80’s he has performed in concert and on the radio with his duo partner on the violin, Rainer Wolters, with whom he has shared a long-standing friendship and career. Together with cellist Wen-Sinn Yang they have also performed as the “Frank Martin Trio” in Switzerland, the Netherlands and France.
