Les Connivences Sonores

Les Connivences Sonores was born in 2014 from a meeting of minds between two inquisitive musicians.

Odile Renault, the flautist, acquired orchestral experience with the chamber orchestra of Caen before moving to the United States to perfect her skills with the legendary Marcel Moyse. Upon her return to France, Odile joined the Ensemble Orchestral de Normandie as principal flute. Odile currently pursues a career as a chamber musician with a wide repertoire ranging from the 18th century to the present day.

Harpist Élodie Reibaud trained at the Conservatory in Geneva and at the Academy of Lucerne Festival under the guidance of Pierre Boulez. She has performed in various formations including the Strasbourg Philharmonic, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Basel Symphony. Chamber music remains her greatest pleasure.

Their shared passion turned into a project of discovery and re-discovery of a rich and highly original chamber music repertoire, centred on the flute and harp duo. Odile and Élodie have been exploring its riches for several years, as the great romantic repertoire allows them to devote themselves to the sensual and virtuosic dimensions of their instruments. The 20th century, with the variety of its musical languages, never ceases to amaze the duo.

Their curiosity also leads them to larger works such as Debussy’s Trio for flute, viola and harp, very rare combinations such as the trio for flute, violoncello and harp, or the quintets for flute, harp and string trio written by Jean Cras, Albert Roussel and André Jolivet.

Odile and Élodie further expand the instrumentation with voices and percussion, as required.

Working with composers and first performances of new compositions form a particularly important focus of the artistic process of Connivences Sonores as a contribution to the expansion of the original repertoire. It also corresponds to their favourite perspective on any part of the repertoire—searching for an interpretation that comes closest to the heart of the work.
